Brooks Bowden is a Senior Research Scientist and Associate Director for the Center for Benefit-Cost Studies of Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. Her research interests are in conducting rigorous evaluations of educational policies and programs to better understand the role of education as a tool for economic development and to aid decision-making. Dr. Bowden is particularly interested in using rigorous methods to evaluate the effectiveness and costs of programs and policies in areas of K-12 schooling, school choice, early education and child policy, and special education or health policy for children with autism. Dr. Bowden obtained her Ph.D. in Education Policy with a specialization in economics from Columbia University. Prior to coming to Teachers College, she worked as a Research Scientist for the Institute of Education Sciences. She has a Masters degree in Education Policy from the University of Pennsylvania and in Psychology from Auburn University. Her undergraduate degree is also in Psychology from Auburn University.
